EDSP 672 - Typical and Atypical Development of the Young Child (3 units) Sequences and processes of development from pre-birth to age 7. Emphasis on impact of at-risk/disabling conditions on the development of young children.
Grading Basis: Graded Units of Lecture: 3 Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. describe factors during critical periods of development, which contribute to risk for developmental difficulties and disabling conditions. 2. apply theoretical models to explain development in various areas such as cognition, social/emotional, communication, and motor. 3. describe sequences, characteristics, and interrelationships in early development across each of the developmental domains. 4. demonstrate an ability to read current research and interpret results and ?implications for teachers and families of young children with disabilities.
