EDSP 715 - Severe Learning Disabilities (3 units) Survey of the field of learning disabilities including characteristics, contributing factors, and an overview of interventions in school and related settings.
Grading Basis: Graded Units of Lecture: 3 Offered: Every Spring - Odd Years
Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. use the professional literature as a means of targeting appropriate instructional interventions for students with learning disabilities as measured by successful completion of a professional literature review as a result of active participation and successful completion of course requirements. 2. interpret formal and informal assessment data used to identify students with learning disabilities. 3. describe the response to intervention in the evaluation process as measured by case study. 4. describe the various theoretical perspectives of learning disabilities and their relevance for designing individualized instructional strategies as measured on the final exam. 5. describe the experiences, emotions, and challenges of students with learning disabilities after experiencing simulated challenges by successful completion of self-study assignment.
