IS 101 - Introduction to Information Systems (3 units) Introductions to microcomputers, computers in business and microcomputer software tools including word processors, spreadsheets and database management systems.

Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. explain computer-related concepts including: computer technology (hardware and software), applications of this technology, its impact on society, careers in computing, networks and telecommunications, the Internet, computer security and controls, artificial intelligence, emerging technologies, personal privacy, intellectual property and ethical issues. 2. use computer software to solve introductory level business-oriented problems. 3. evaluate and use information technology to increase personal productivity in study and/or work environments.
