Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. analyze and contrast differences among subcultures (i.e., Moorish and Jewish) in the Spanish Golden Age. 2. articulate, in written materials and in class discussion, various interpretations and analyses of narrative, dramatic, and/or poetic texts of the Spanish Golden Age. 3. demonstrate the ability to read and debate Golden Age and Renaissance Spanish literary texts of considerable complexity in the historical conditions of their production, and the ability to write essays with adequate control of structures and vocabulary. Such authors include Cervantes, Lope de Vega, Garcilaso de la Vega, Góngora, Quevedo, among others. 4. examine and debate texts related to the Protestant Reformation and Counterreformation in the Golden Age.
