SPAN 317 - Interpretation I (3 units) General concepts, principles, and techniques of interpreting. Overview and basic practice of sight, consecutive and simultaneous interpretation. Interpretation from English into Spanish and vice versa.
Prerequisite(s): SPAN 305 or SPAN 307 .
Grading Basis: Graded Units of Lecture: 3 Offered: Every Fall
Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. identify basic theoretical notions in the field of interpretation. 2. apply basic interpretation techniques in English and Spanish. 3. discuss cultural issues specific to the field of interpretation. 4. identify appropriate techniques specifically needed for sight, consecutive, and simultaneous interpretation.
