SOC 708 - Qualitative Research Methods (3 units) This course will train students to conduct rigorous qualitative sociological research studies. Qualitative methodologies will include but are not limited to: ethnography, in-depth interviewing, and content analysis.

Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. demonstrate fluency in the application of foundational concepts, theories, and methodologies in the qualitative tradition in sociology. 2. conduct and assess a diversity of qualitative methods and associated theoretical, ethical, and pragmatic issues. 3. conduct qualitative research that is descriptively rich, theoretically illuminating, and, ultimately, publishable.
