ART 609 - Experiential Learning II

(3 units)
Participate in learning outside of a conventional classroom curriculum. Field trips and expeditions will encourage students to develop projects stemming from exposure to new ways of thinking and seeing - challenging ideas of how art gets made. The theme for each section stems from the instructor’s particular area of expertise, but considers ideas of embodied place and sustainable arts practices. This course may take the form of multiple workshops. (Formerly SNU: NWGN 541)

Prerequisite(s): formerly Sierra Nevada University Interdisciplinary Art MFA student.

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. design and execute artworks from an ethical and sustainable practice within the environment with specific attention to how artwork exists under expansion.
2. speak about their work from a collaborative perspective informed by the value of community and the extension of individually defined audience.
3. continue to speak about their work and others’ work from a perspective informed by a fluid set of critical and historical contexts.
