Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. analyze, evaluate, and interpret primary sources with attention to content, historical and cultural context, genre, and language through class discussion and written assignments.
2. analyze and clearly explain the argument, main points, and use of evidence in secondary sources through class discussion and written assignments.
3. identify sources for research and clearly and effectively articulate an original interpretation in writing.
4. describe the experiences of survivors of Nazi oppression and their paths in wake of the Holocaust.
5. contextualize change over time in Holocaust memory in Europe, the US, and Israel, as well as within postwar Jewish life and history.
6. prepare and present material on the Holocaust, Holocaust memory/legacies, or genocide for a general audience with lessons for ordinary people today.
