JOUR 412 - Travel Journalism (3 units) CO11 Reporting, writing, video, and photography on culture and place for publication. Study of travel journalists and media markets for travel journalism.

Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. produce a variety of different types of travel stories, from long-form written articles to photo essays to video stories. 2. learn from some of the best travel journalists popular today and discuss what makes their work engaging and valuable to audiences. 3. elaborate some of the larger themes embedded in travel writing, from colonialism and post-colonialism to immigration and globalization.
