BCH 417 - Metabolic Regulation (3 units) In-depth examination of metabolism and regulation of carbohydrates, lipids, isoprenoids, amino acids, relationship of metabolism to the life processes of the whole organism.
Prerequisite(s): BCH 400 ; CHEM 342 .
Grading Basis: Graded Units of Lecture: 3 Offered: Every Fall
Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. explain and interpret the molecular principles of biochemistry as they relate to the metabolic processes of life. 2. describe general principles on how metabolic pathways are regulated and identify specific modes of regulation in metabolic pathways. 3. articulate a comprehensive understanding of intermediary metabolism and the interconnectedness of anabolic and catabolic processes. 4. relate metabolic pathways to basic physiological processes.
