GEOL 260 - Introductory Field Geology (2 units) This course will cover topics of basic geologic map interpretation, construction, and report writing in both classroom and field settings. Students will complete a geologic mapping project over Spring Break. The Spring Break field trip is a required component of this course.
Maximum units a student may earn: 2
Prerequisite(s): GEOL 211 .
Grading Basis: Graded Units of Laboratory/Studio: 2 Offered: Every Spring
Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. locate themselves on a map and utilize a compass to make geological measurements. 2. describe rocks in the field. 3. identify and map geological units in the field.
