GERO 630 - Aging and Health (3 units) Exploration of the interrelationships between health and aging in the U.S. healthcare system. (GERO 430 and NURS 430 are cross-listed; credit may be earned in one of the two.)

Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. describe the interrelationships between health and aging. 2. differentiate age-related pathologic conditions from normal physiologic changes attributable to aging. 3. analyze how social determinants of health impact the aging population. 4. identify effective health promotion activities for elder adults. 5. describe the impact of an aging population on the U.S. healthcare system. 6. synthesize the needs of aging adults as they apply to the student’s area of study.
