Focus on understanding the socialization of children from a bioecological perspective, with special emphasis on developing supportive systems across children’s proximal environments, such as family, educational, and community settings.

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. discuss the socialization process and evaluate their own socialization experiences.
2. analyze the effects of mass media and technology on children, including the socialization messages they convey and the potential impact of these messages.
3. explore and synthesize existing community resources and programs that support children and their families with diverse needs.
4. explain the importance of partnerships among families, early childhood education (ECE) settings/schools, and communities.
5. assess the characteristics, strengths, and needs of parents and families and their children.
6. develop strategies to promote the wellbeing and socialization outcomes of families and their children.
7. evaluate the effectiveness of strategies that support the well-being and socialization outcomes of families and their children.
8. explain the various influences of children’s proximal environments on their socialization within a theoretical framework.
