MIL 201 - Leadership and Ethics

Examines leadership and ethics in the Army and develops students’ ability to analyze leadership styles, assess personal leadership strengths, and apply Army values and ethical reasoning to military situations. Students practice Army writing and briefings, study culture awareness, the law of armed conflict, and leadership in history, and reinforce learning through practical exercises, labs, and physical readiness training.

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. analyze leadership concepts, leadership styles, and the Army Leadership Requirements Model to evaluate historical examples of leadership and personal leadership development.
2. apply Army values, ethical reasoning, cultural awareness, the Law of Armed Conflict, and the Code of Conduct to assess leadership decisions and military scenarios.
3. communicate ideas clearly in Army-style written and oral formats through reports, briefings, and presentations.
4. demonstrate intermediate military skills and professional participation through practical exercises, including land navigation, first aid, terrain model work, labs, and physical training.
