MIL 202 - Army Doctrine and Decision-Making

Introduces Army doctrine and decision-making through analytical and creative thinking, the Army problem-solving process, troop leading procedures, OPORD development, terrain analysis, and military symbology. Students apply doctrinal concepts to squad and platoon operations, counseling, and equal opportunity topics through practical exercises, leadership labs, physical readiness training, and a diagnostic Army Fitness Test.

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. apply analytical and creative thinking tools, along with the Army problem-solving process, to evaluate and respond to leadership and tactical situations.
2. describe Army doctrine by interpreting military symbology, applying troop leading procedures, and preparing or analyzing basic OPORD-related products.
3. analyze how terrain, multidomain operations, and offensive and defensive tactical concepts affect squad- and platoon-level decision-making.
4. demonstrate professional participation and applied military skills through practical exercises, including navigation, terrain-model work, counseling exercises, leadership labs, and physical training.
