MUS 203 - Music Theory I (3 units) Counterpoint and harmony (written and keyboard).
Prerequisite(s): Music Theory Placement Exam score of at least 70% or MUS 101 with at least a “C” or simultaneous enrollment in the Corequisite. Corequisite: MUS 203L .
Grading Basis: Graded Units of Lecture: 3 Offered: Every Fall
Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. demonstrate a solid understanding of music fundamentals such as pitch, key, and intervallic identification as well as scale construction and proper notation. 2. construct diatonic triads and 7th chords in root position and their inversions. 3. demonstrate a basic understanding of voice leading principles, 4-part writing and Roman numeral analysis.
