NURS 318 - Nursing Fundamentals Practicum (3 units) Establish foundational nursing knowledge and professionalism while providing nursing care with an emphasis on fundamental skills and clinical reasoning.
Maximum units a student may earn: 3
Prerequisite(s): Admission to the Nursing major; Departmental permission.
Grading Basis: Graded Units of Internship/Practicum: 2 Units of Laboratory/Studio: 1 Offered: Every Fall and Spring
Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. perform assessments to understand client’s plan of care. 2. use fundamental nursing skills needed to provide safe care to adult individuals. 3. analyze data from various sources to support safe and appropriate nursing plans of care. 4. participate in nursing care using safe individualized plans of care. 5. evaluate client responses to interventions to assess effectiveness of plan of care. 6. describe clinical manifestations of prioritized potential complications. 7. demonstrate professional nursing practice to provide safe nursing care. 8. reflect on professional behaviors and interactions in the interprofessional environment to improve care outcomes. 9. communicate care provided in verbal and written forms to inform client status.
