PSC 781 - Research Design in Political Science (3 units) Provides an introduction to research in political science, elements of research design, and the connection between theories and methodological approaches.

Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. describe the nature of graduate school and the nature of the political science discipline. 2. articulate the basis of understanding human knowledge and the acquisition of that knowledge. 3. explain the basis of scientific inquiry. 4. describe, evaluate and use models and theories in the discipline. 5. explain the nature of causality, inference, and correlation. 6. identify and contend with threats to research validity and reliability. 7. explain and demonstrate the basis of qualitative research.
