SW 101 - Intro Social Work (3 units) Acquaints students with the values of and fields of practice within the social work profession. Emphasis on human diversity and generalist practice.

Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. identify, describe, and distinguish between the various fields of practice within the social work profession. 2. distinguish between micro, mezzo, and macro practice. 3. identify and articulate the ethical principles and core social work values expounded by NASW. 4. conduct searches for scholarly articles using electronic databases. 5. critically examine multiple dimensions of a social issue. 6. define and distinguish between cultural humility, power, privilege, discrimination, and oppression. 7. define generalist practice and accurately describe the roles and functions that constitute social work practice.
