HIST 399 - History Department Practicum

Practicum internship providing hands-on historical research, analysis, writing, or related experience in the history department, associated programs, and / or community partner institutions.

Maximum units a student may earn: 6

Prerequisite(s): Instructor consent required.

Grading Basis: Graded

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. undertake independent historical archival and/or oral historical research relevant to a problem defined in conjunction with a history department, university, or community partner program or organization.
2. appropriately research relevant secondary literature.
3. provide project-appropriate written or digital media summaries or presentations of the research.
4. utilize hardware and software tools for research, analysis, and presentation as appropriate to the project.
5. engage in scholarly written reflection on the relation of their work to broader conversations in academic and/or public history.
