JOUR 416 - Reynolds Media Lab Practicum (3 units) CO14 This course offers supervised, hands-on professional experience in journalism, visual communication and strategic communication. Students work with approved internal or external partners on real projects with real deadlines, producing client-ready content and communication deliverables.

Prerequisite(s): Journalism major or minor
Grading Basis: Graded Units of Internship/Practicum: 3 Offered: Every Fall and Spring
Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. apply journalism, visual communication and/or strategic communication principles to professional content and project work for internal or external clients. 2. manage real-world deadlines, workflows, and expectations consistent with professional media and communication environments in collaboration with supervisors, clients, and team members. 3. use appropriate tools, technologies, or production workflows to create original, client-ready work that meets professional standards for accuracy, ethics, clarity, and audience relevance. 4. create and revise professional job application materials and social facing presence to enter the industry or professional. 5. analyze practicum work and professional performance to identify strengths, areas for growth, and future career direction.
