EDLE 750 - Culturally & Linguistically Sustaining Mentorship & Practice (3 units) Principles of mentoring and coaching to promote identification and use of instructional strategies and approaches designed to maximize opportunities for engagement, differentiation and achievement for multilingual learners in the classroom and school.

Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. explain and interpret the ideas associated with key issues related to practice in multilingual education. 2. synthesize and apply theories and research related to the nature and role of mentors, coaches, and program leaders for supporting learners in multilingual settings. 3. demonstrate knowledge of how individual and group cultural and linguistic identities shape educational experiences and how best to support learners. 4. analyze evidence-based practices and strategies related to planning, implementing, and managing culturally and linguistically sustaining planning, coaching and mentoring. 5. conduct focused research on topics relating to methods for planning, implementing, and managing culturally and linguistically sustaining leadership and practice.
