NURS 467 - Informatics, Technology, & Health Policy (3 units) CO9 Provides an overview of healthcare policy and healthcare systems. Introduces concepts of nursing informatics and healthcare technology to improve quality and interdisciplinary communication.

Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. explain how informatics, patient care technology, clinical information systems, and communication devices improve health outcomes and support safe and quality nursing practice. 2. recognize how health policy, regulation, and reimbursement influence the use of informatics and healthcare technologies in nursing practice. 3. demonstrate the practical applications of technologies that will enhance communication with interdisciplinary teams. 4. appraise algorithm-generated data and predictive analytics to inform clinical judgment and evidence-based decision-making. 5. describe ethical considerations related to the use and communication of health data and information including the use of artificial intelligence tools in the delivery of care. 6. describe how quality improvement initiatives and system processes contribute to safe, high-quality healthcare.
