ENGR 718 - Engineering Education Practicum

This course enables graduate students to deepen their understanding of college teaching and learning through a semester-long teaching experience with mentoring, feedback, and reflection. It takes a scholarly, professional approach to the teaching of engineering because teaching is a scholarly practice where teaching activities are related to research literature.

Prerequisite(s): ENGR 431 or ENGR 631.

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. design and conduct experiments as well as to analyze, interpret, apply, and disseminate the data.
2. think critically about the relationships between your teaching experiences and the readings in this course and the prerequisite courses.
3. justify choices of teaching methods based on literature, reflection, mentoring, and student feedback to learn from teaching experiences.
4. analyze evidence of student learning and perform a scholarly investigation of teaching and learning.
5. assemble a teaching portfolio that highlights the quality and scholarship of your teaching in a public form, for possible peer review.
