MKT 460 - Consumerism (3 units) This course will discuss the history of American consumption and analyze modern consumer culture to better understand consumers’ happiness and well-being. By exploring the emerging field of social marketing, students will reflect on personal values and civic responsibility as a consumer.

Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. demonstrate understanding of the history of American consumption and analyze modern consumer culture. 2. recognize marketing strategies related to anti-consumption campaigns and social responsibility activities and discuss marketers’ responsibilities in a post-traditional society. 3. reflect on a sense of personal values and civic responsibility as a consumer.
