HDFS 432 - Hip-Hop Studies (3 units) This course will undertake the integration of theories used to address difference in academic spaces as a references to understand Hip Hop Culture. Hip Hop Studies will be used as the lens to look at domestic, transnational, and cosmopolitan views on family and social interaction.

Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. demonstrate in varied writing assignments a historical and personal understanding of identity in twenty-first century America. 2. describe the complexity of identity issues as expressed through Hip Hop music. 3. make connections between identity development and public expression through the medium of Hip Hop music. 4. identify the history and global expansion of Hip Hop Culture.
