CRJ 161 - Crime Scene Investigation

This course offers an overview of crime scene investigation to include processing methods and procedures. The topics in this course include crime scene investigator roles and responsibilities, forensic laboratories, physical evidence to include fingerprint, blood and biological, firearm and ballistic, drug, and digital evidence, and specialized investigative techniques.

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. identify the techniques used to recognize, enhance, document, collect, handle, and package physical evidence.
2. describe the roles and responsibilities of crime scene investigators within the investigative process.
3. describe the importance of chain of custody and evidence integrity.
4. demonstrate a critical understanding of crime scene investigation.
