KIN 751 - Selected Application of Statistical Techniques I

Introduction to descriptive and inferential statistical procedures utilized in studies reported in exercise science, health, physical education, and recreation. Provides students with theoretical, applied knowledge, and practical skills for conducting statistical analyses in Exercise Science and Kinesiology to address hypothesis testing in Exercise Science and Kinesiology. The student will become competent in quantitative analysis, including using common statistical software.

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. explain and defend analysis of variance tests.
2. explain and defend the use of parametric and non-parametric tests.
3. explain and defend the difference between analysis of variance and regressions.
4. explain, collect, and analyze data for analysis of variance and regression models.
5. explain and defend the difference between validity and reliability.
6. explain, collect, and analyze data for reliability and diagnostic validity.
7. demonstrate ability to write scientifically by reporting on their data analyses.
