This course examines climate change through the lens of international security. It explores how climate change differs from traditional security threats, analyzes the nature and extent of the security threats posed by climate change, and evaluates its implications for international relations, state policy, and global security frameworks.

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. analyze how climate change acts as a stressor across the principal dimensions of international security.
2. critically assess the political challenges, implications, and controversies associated with framing climate change as an international security threat.
3. describe the causal pathways through which climate change impacts are projected to influence state behavior, economic relationships, and the potential for international conflict and cooperation.
4. evaluate diverse international responses and governance approaches aimed at mitigating climate change-related security risks.
5. synthesize diverse theoretical frameworks to formulate evidence-based analyses of specific climate change security challenges.
