HIST 130 - Introduction to the History of Science (3 units) CO9 This course presents an introduction to the development of scientific practice and scientific knowledge throughout world history. It focuses on how the pursuit of knowledge took shape amid specific historical contexts and how, in turn, science has shaped societies, including our own.

Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. describe the role of science and technology in shaping human and environmental history through class discussion and written assignments. 2. describe how particular historical contexts affected the production, circulation, and application of scientific knowledge. 3. analyze and interpret primary sources relating to the history of science and its impact on the world. 4. craft arguments in a clear and persuasive manner.
