MINE 315 - Applied Statistics and Design of Experiments (3 Units) Engineering-focused introduction to statistical methods, probability distributions, hypothesis testing, regression modeling, and both classical and factorial design of experiments. Emphasizes data analysis, empirical modeling, and experimental design for solving practical engineering problems.

Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. explain the key statistical principles and their application to solving engineering problems. 2. describe the difference between a sample and a population and how to infer conclusions about a population based on a limited number of sample data. 3. develop simple empirical models using regression analysis. 4. differentiate between classical design and factorial design of experiments, and learn how to study the factor interaction effects using factorial design techniques.
