ART 408 - High Desert Installation

A studio field course working in high desert locations around Tahoe and the Great Basin. Exploring larger issues of sustainable practice, land use, and embodied place by preparing and presenting artwork in the landscape.

Prerequisite(s): Arts, Land and Environment minor or instructor permission.

Student Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. create site-responsive artworks that demonstrate an understanding of sustainable and ethical approaches to making art in outdoor environments.
2. identify and describe basic strategies for thinking about landscape, time, and place in the context of environmental art.
3. collaborate with peers to plan and present work in the landscape, showing an awareness of shared space, community, and audience.
