HIST 783D - Historiography: The World since 1500 (3 units) Extensive readings in the literature of historical methods and a comprehensive survey of world history from 1500 to the present.

Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. produce a historiographical essay analyzing major debates and methodological approaches in world history since 1500. 2. identify and explain major themes in post‑1500 global history across multiple regions. 3. critically analyze major secondary works and evaluate their contributions to historiography. 4. assess how interpretive frameworks for modern world history have evolved over time.
