The Department of Computer Science and Engineering offers courses leading to undergraduate and graduate degrees: the bachelor of science in computer science and engineering, the master of science in computer science and engineering, and the doctor of philosophy in computer science and engineering. In addition, it offers a minor in computer science and engineering, and a minor in digital interactive games. The department has three areas of strength:
- Cybersecurity and Network Systems
- Intelligent and Autonomous Systems
- Data and Software Systems
The mission of the department is to advance the frontiers of computer science and engineering, to produce qualified individuals in the discipline, and to reach out both within and beyond the university to apply computer science and engineering solutions to technical and societal problems.
Computer Science and Engineering
To fulfill the undergraduate elements of the departmental mission the Educational Objectives of the Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Engineering Program are that within 2 - 5 years of graduation our graduates will:
- be employed as computer science and engineering professionals beyond entry level positions or be making satisfactory progress in graduate programs;
- have peer-recognized expertise together with the ability to articulate that expertise as computer science and engineering professionals;
- demonstrate strong analytic, design, and implementation skills required to formulate and solve computer science or computer engineering problems in a professional or research environment;
- demonstrate that they can function, communicate, collaborate and continue to learn effectively as ethically and socially responsible computer science and engineering professionals.
