The epidemiology emphasis is designed for students seeking to acquire skills in the fundamental methods of disease investigation and prevention in large populations. Courses emphasize basic and advanced epidemiologic principles and their application to current problems in public health and related disciplines. Students in the epidemiology emphasis are expected to use appropriate methods to plan, implement, and conduct epidemiologic research. Students are also expected to critically evaluate research methodology to assess validity and potential sources of bias. Skills in computer use and statistics acquired in the public health program are used to analyze, interpret, and disseminate the results of epidemiologic investigation.

C. MPH Culimnating Experience (9 units)
- At the conclusion of the MPH emphasis, students will complete 6 credits of NURS 760 in a community organization (the overlap), and
- CHS 695–MPH Capstone (3 units)
D. Total MPH Credits: 37 units
MSN/MPH Examining Committee
As the nature of the dual degree indicates, a Master’s Examining Committee will be formed by the faculty of both programs. The Committee collaborates to support the MSN/MPH Internship (covered by NURS 760R ) and the MPH Capstone course (which will include a professional paper). The composition of this 4 member committee will include: MSN advisor, MPH advisor, Graduate School Representative, and a Community Preceptor. |
