Students seeking the master of arts degree in history should read the Graduate School section of this catalog and the department’s Graduate Bulletin. The department requires that applicants hold a bachelor’s degree with a major (or 24-semester-credit minor) in history, have a cumulative undergraduate grade-point average of 2.75 and achieve a satisfactory score on the General Graduate Record Examination.
The Master of Arts degree requires 25 semester credits of course work, reading knowledge of one foreign language, a written comprehensive examination for 1 credit, a prospectus colloquium, a six-credit thesis, and a final oral examination.
