Bachelor of Fine Arts candidates must gain acceptance to the major determined by application to the Department of Art after completion of 60 credit hours overall. Applicants must have completed a minimum of 12 credits in Studio Art and 9 credits in Art History. Candidates must have and maintain a minimum 3.0 grade point average in art courses to gain acceptance to the major. Applications may be submitted no earlier than the end of the student’s second year of full-time study.

Entrance to the program is determined via a review of full application. Detailed attention will be given to portfolio materials. Department faculty will conduct the application and portfolio review.

Bachelor of Fine Art students are admitted in fall semester only. The departmental deadline for application is February 15. The department website gives specific admission, application, and degree requirements at http://www.unr.edu/art/

NOTE: In addition to the two semesters of ART 442 - Intermedia   and ART 498 - Seminar in Visual Arts  required of all BFA candidates, candidates who take more than four semesters to complete this program are required to take ART 442   and ART 498  each additional semester until graduation.
