IV. Major Requirement (29-44 units)

Students wishing to fulfill the requirements of the Bachelor of Science in International Business need to choose a business concentration, take two years of a single foreign language, and select a regional track consistent with their language studies. Before meeting with an advisor, students should print and fill out the applicable advising sheets, which are all located below.

A. International Business course (12 units)

B. Business Concentration (9 units)

The appropriate business courses to be taken depend on the functional focus (Accounting, Economics, Finance, Management, or Marketing) that the student has chosen. Students must meet with an advisor to find approved courses.

C. Regional Track (8-9 units)

Additional courses depend on the regional focus (Europe, Asia, Latin America, North America) that the student has chosen. These electives must be approved to fulfill an area especially consistent with the student’s chosen foreign language. Approved courses include study in the culture and politics of the chosen region focus (Europe, Asia, Latin America, North America). Study abroad is strongly encouraged and courses taken abroad may satisfy some electives in regional track with faculty advisor approval.

D. Foreign Language (0-14 units)

NOTE: The International Business major requires 14 credits in a single foreign language that is consistent with the regional track chosen. Language proficiency equivalent to 14 credits can be demonstrated and approved by the Foreign Language department. Once language proficiency has been demonstrated, the language requirement may be waived for a student, however, the student must meet the university’s minimum of 120 credits for graduation. Students may not satisfy the foreign language requirement via their native language nor choose their native country for the regional focus. For students with English as a Second Language, a North American track will be allowed (without the need to study an additional foreign language); or those students may seek another language track and regional concentration.

V. Minor Requirements (0 units)

No minor is required. However, students are encouraged to fulfill any extra coursework required for a minor in their chosen language.
