Description
The Bachelor of Arts in Economics is designed to prepare students for positions as economic and statistical analysts in business, government and nonprofit organizations, and for the teaching profession. In addition, it provides a strong foundation for graduate study and research in the fields of economics, business, public policy and law. Students choosing a Bachelor of Arts in Economics often consider a dual major with other programs.

Students in this major must meet all Silver Core Objectives (CO1 through CO14). Courses satisfying Core Objectives are designated (e.g., CO9) in General Catalog curricula and course description.

Students with pre-existing language capabilities that satisfy the foreign language requirements will be required to replace those credits with sufficient approved electives to meet the minimum 120 total credit units required by the College of Business for graduation.

At least 9 credits in the Economics major must be taken at the 400 level.

Select one Economics History course (3 units)
B. Economics electives numbered 300 - 499 (9 units)
These electives may include ECON 420 or ECON 489, which satisfy CO14.

* English and Math course placement is based on test scores. Students who are able to place in more advanced courses may take electives to replace the credits.
** Students must complete the equivalent of a fourth semester foreign language. Students with pre-existing language capabilities that satisfy the foreign language requirements will be required to replace those credits with sufficient approved electives to meet the minimum 120 total credit units required by the College of Business for graduation.
