II. Description
Through the department’s skills-based curriculum, history students learn how to think and write like historians. History faculty teach students to think contextually, read historical documents, and become better researchers and writers.
Courses are offered in African, American, Asian, British and Irish, European, Latin American, and Russian history as well as specialized areas such as American studies, the history of medicine and science, and the history of the American West.
III. Program Requirements (18-21 units)
A. Minor Interest Subject (General History) (21 units)
B. Minor Interest Subject (American History) (18 units)
C. Minor Interest Subject (European History) (18 units)
D. Minor Interest Subject (World History) (18 units)
- HIST 105 - European Civilization (3 units)
- Fifteen additional units from African, Latin American, Far Eastern, Middle Eastern or ancient history courses numbered 200 - 499 (nine of which must be 300 - 499). (15 units)
