Neuroscience, B.S.

Description

Neuroscience is an interdisciplinary program leading to a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience. The program offers comprehensive training in brain sciences, with Psychology courses that offer a cognitive/systems perspective, and Biology courses ranging from animal behavior to neurons and molecular mechanisms. The degree is targeted for students who plan to continue with graduate studies and is designed to provide them a rigorous foundation competitive for graduate and medical school. Dual degrees are not allowed in NSC and BIOL, or NSC and MMI either concurrently or subsequently. Dual degrees are allowed with PSY, but PSY credits (with the exception of PSY 101 ) cannot be used for both degrees.

Students in this major must meet all Silver Core Objectives (CO1 through CO14). Courses satisfying Core Objectives are designated (e.g., CO9) in General Catalog curricula and course descriptions.

Students must take courses that satisfy the following Core Objectives. Some or all of these Silver Core Objectives may be satisfied in the Major Requirements (Section IV). Refer to the Core Curriculum   chapter in this catalog.

NOTE: CHEM 121A / CHEM 121L or CHEM 201 is prerequisite for BIOL 190; some professional schools require a year of organic chemistry (CHEM 341 , CHEM 342 , CHEM 345 , totaling 8 units).
