II. Brief Description

Mechanical engineering is one of the broadest engineering disciplines. It is complementary to many disciplines in the areas of science and engineering.
Hybrid and self-driving cars, and human prosthetics are just a couple of interdisciplinary devices that use mechanical engineering.

III. Program Requirements (18 units)

At least 18 units of formal courses must be completed. At most, 9 of the 18 units can be used toward the student’s major.

B. Minor Electives (6-12 units)

CEE 372 - Mechanics of Solids (3 units) *
ENGR 360 - Introduction to Fluid Mechanics (3 units)
ME 310 - System Analysis and Design (4 units)
ME 311 - Engineering Thermodynamics I (3 units) *
ME 314 - Introduction to Heat Transfer (3 units)
ME 351 - Mechanical Design (4 units)

C. Upper-Division ME (0-6 units)

300-400 Level ME courses

Note: In addition to the general university requirements of at least a “C” (2.0) GPA for graduation, all Mechanical Engineering minors must earn at least a “C” in those minor courses designated with an asterisk (*) and a “C” average for all courses used to satisfy the minor requirements.
