II. Description

The overall objective of the ROTC program is to develop in the student/cadet–through both classroom theory and practical application–the necessary traits, knowledge, proficiency and experience in order to be commissioned as an officer in the United States Army.

III. Program Requirements (18-22 units)

Students majoring in another field may minor in Military Science by completing the following:

A. Basic course requirement (2-6 units)

Option 1:
MIL 204 - Basic Camp (2 units) OR
Option 2:
MIL 101 - Introduction to the Army (1 unit) AND
MIL 102 - Foundations of Agile and Adaptive Leadership (1 unit) AND
MIL 201 - Leadership and Decision Making (2 units) AND
MIL 202 - Army Doctrine and Team Development (2 units)

B. Advanced course requirement (13 units)

MIL 301 - Training Management and Warfighting Functions (3 units)
MIL 302 - Applied Leadership in Small Unit Operations (3 units)
MIL 303 - Advanced Camp (1 unit)
MIL 401 - The Army Officer (3 units)
MIL 402 - Leadership in a Complex World (3 units)

C. Military History Requirement (3 units)

Choose one of the following:

HIST 202 - American Military History (3 units)
HIST 289 - Introduction to the History of the Middle East (3 units)
HIST 387 - Western War and Modern Societies (3 units)
HIST 401 - American Constitutional and Legal History (3 units)
HIST 406 - War, Culture and Society in American History (3 units) CO13
HIST 406D - The Civil War in American Culture (3 units) CO13
HIST 407B - United States Foreign Relations II (3 units)
HIST 408 - World War II From a Global Perspective (3 units)
