Nutrition (Nutritional Sciences Specialization), B.S.

The nutritional sciences specialization provides excellent preparation for students whose career goals include medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, physical therapy, or other medical fields. The nutritional science specialization also prepares the student for graduate work (M.S., Ph.D.) in nutrition and related fields, as well as careers in private industry at food and nutrition-focused companies.

Program Learning Outcomes
Students will be able to:
- describe and explain nutrition-related concepts in written, oral, and multimedia formats for varied audiences and purposes (C).
- apply mathematical methods to evaluate quantitative nutrition-related information to derive meaning and relevance (QR).
- analyze nutrition information in research and practice to identify and prioritize nutrition-related problems and promoting evidence-based practice (CT).
- demonstrate knowledge of the scientific basis of the nutrition discipline.
- demonstrate competency in the interpretation and critical analysis of the scientific literature which will be integrated into evidence-based practice.
