This is an online program

The Special Education Certificate is for current teachers in Nevada who already hold an initial teaching license in elementary or secondary education and wish to add the Generalist endorsement to teach K-12 students with mild to moderate disabilities. Teachers outside of Nevada who wish to enroll in the certificate program may, but they should consult with the licensing agency in their home state to determine if it meets licensing requirements.

Students will be able to:

  • describe the characteristics of students with mild to moderate disabilities, their learning environments, and curriculum content to develop appropriate instruction.
  • apply, plan, and deliver appropriate assessment strategies and instruction for individuals with disabilities.
  • collaborate with families and professionals to develop and implement appropriate services for students with mild to moderate disablities.
