Undergraduate Certificates

Undergraduate certificate programs are offered for academic credit by respective departments/colleges. These certificate programs accumulate a specific set of courses to constitute some degree of content mastery. Most provide an adjunct area of study to the student’s academic major.

All students completing undergraduate certificate programs must be admitted to the University of Nevada, Reno as either an undergraduate, graduate special, or regularly admitted graduate student. Students who are also enrolled in a degree-seeking program are eligible to receive financial aid; however, students who are enrolled only in a certificate program as graduate special are non-degree seeking and not eligible for financial aid.

The program requirements for approved certificates are specified in the college and department sections of this catalog. Students may add, delete or change their certificate by obtaining the proper form from the “Forms” link on the Academic Central website and securing the required signatures. Students who complete the program requirements must list the certificate on the application for graduation. Where a minor is required, students may not substitute a certificate without written permission from the college offering the major program.
