Transfers

The Regents of the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) allow students to retain their rights to earlier catalog requirements for ten years, unless they change majors. Unless they retain their rights to an earlier catalog, transfer students who transfer to UNR from another NSHE institution with an AA, AB or AS degree will be given credit for completion of the General Education requirements, including CO1-CO8. The university has similar agreements for AA and AS degrees from certain other states, such as California, Oregon, and Texas, except that students must complete ENG 102  and satisfy CO8. Students who transfer without completion of the above programs or degrees will need to have their transcripts considered on a course-by-course basis. Note that satisfaction of Silver Core requirements does not imply that students have completed specific courses required by the student’s academic major program.

At the time of their admission to the university, transfer students may access Transfer Credit and Academic Advising Reports in MyNEVADA. These reports show Silver Core Curriculum equivalencies for transfer credits. Questions about them should be directed to a Core Curriculum evaluator in Admissions and Records, the student’s academic advisor, or the Advising Center. It is recommended that transfer students bring with them an unofficial copy of all previous college transcripts and their Academic Advising Report (AAR) when meeting with their advisor for the first time.
