Transfer Admission Requirements

Return to Admission Information for Transfer Students

Admission with advanced undergraduate standing is granted to a student transferring from another regionally accredited college or university, provided the transfer applicant meets four conditions.

The applicant must:

  • be in good standing at the educational institution last attended; and
  • must have earned at least 24 college-level credits;* and
  • have compiled an overall GPA of at least 2.5 on all college-level credits; and
  • place into college-level English and mathematics courses or have completed college-level English and mathematics courses prior to transfer.

The Office of Admissions and Records will make a final admission decision only after applicants have provided official transcripts from each college or university attended.

An applicant transferring to the university with fewer than 24 acceptable college-level credits will be required to satisfy the freshmen admission requirements.

Students who graduate from a Nevada System of Higher Education community college with a transferable associate degree will be admitted to the University of Nevada, Reno.

*At least half the units required for a bachelor’s degree must have been earned at a regionally accredited four-year institution.

Transfer Agreements

Every bachelor’s degree program description in this catalog includes a link to the transfer agreements that have been developed for that program. If no agreement exists for the transfer institution you have attended or are now attending, please use the Transferology site to see how your coursework will transfer to the University.
