Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. Students will be able to create art and design projects using basic design, typography and page layout skills using hand-set type and digital tools for letterpress printing. 2. Students will be able to demonstrate techniques and skills in the art and craft of letterpress printing, including comparing and contrasting analog and digital design techniques. 3. Students will be able to discuss the history of printing from moveable metal type and a basic understanding of the history of typography and the book. 4. Students will be able to identify how history and craft continue to shape contemporary art and design. 5. Students will be able to demonstrate knowledge of the vocabulary and nomenclature surrounding letterpress printing, design and the typographic arts. 6. Students will be able to evaluate and articulate design concepts in their own work, and in historical and contemporary samples of work. 7. Students will be able to consider and express their relationship to text and how to use it in the applied and fine arts.
