Transfer Admission Processing

Apply ASAP

Submit your application as early as possible. Students who apply by February 1st for the following fall semester receive priority consideration for scholarships and state and institutional financial aid awards.

Be clear about your previous education

• list all of the institutions you attended (your report is verified against the National Student Clearinghouse record)
• carefully select the names of the institutions you have attended previously from the drop down menu (many have very similar names)

Pay the application fee

• applications are processed only after the application fee is received
• verify that your application fee was received

Order official transcripts

• when to order official transcripts:
  • immediately after submitting your application even if it contains in-progress work
  • when in-progress work is completed and graded
  • when a degree is posted
• send test scores (College Board, International Baccalaureate, etc.) if you earned credit for any college-level courses, particularly English and Mathematics courses

Activate your NetID to access MyNevada, and check your status at least weekly

• verify that transcripts have been received by checking your TO DO list items and COMMUNICATIONS
  • your application will be evaluated only after transcripts have been received from all of the institutions you have attended previously
• allow 10 business days for processing of COMPLETED APPLICATIONS (application fee and all transcripts received)
  • write mynevada@unr.edu with questions, concerns about your application

Immediately address deficiencies in your application

If you can, provide updated transcripts and/or test score reports to remedy these common application deficiencies.

• fewer than 24 college-level units completed
• insufficient evidence of eligibility to enroll in college-level English and Mathematics courses
• earned less than a 2.5 grade point average in previous college-level work
  • students with less than a 2.5 GPA who have earned a transferable Associate degree from an NSHE institution or a previous bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited four-year institution must submit official transcripts on which the degree is posted

Once admitted to the University, you must accept your admission

• accept your admission to the University in MyNEVADA
• if you no longer plan to attend, please decline your admission

Enrollment

• approximately one month before registration opens for the next term, students are activated in MyNEVADA
  • the schedule of classes for the new term(s) becomes available for review
  • enrollment appointments are assigned and posted in MyNevada
• schedule an advisement appointment
  • new transfer students must be advised prior to enrolling in courses
  • students who have completed transfer degrees from NSHE or general education transfer components from community colleges in California, Oregon, Texas, and Washington  may be eligible for a waiver of lower-division general education requirements. Be sure to discuss your eligibility with your advisor.
